By now, most of you have seen the AmazonFresh announcement about its intention to open a second grocery store in Melbourne, South Australia.
In that announcement, the retailer said it planned to expand its store in Adelaide and Brisbane.
As the announcement made its way to the public, many people took to social media to voice their discontent about the news.
A lot of people were unhappy with AmazonFresh being in SA, and they’re pissed about this decision to open two stores in SA.
They are also unhappy that the announcement didn’t go as planned.
There’s a lot of misinformation out there about AmazonFresh and I’m just here to help clear up some of that.
I will also try to get people on the record.
So I’ll just get this out of the way: AmazonFresh is still in SA and will continue to be.
There’s no plans to move the store to another state.
AmazonFresh will continue as an AmazonFresh location in Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne.
The announcement about the Adelaide and Melbourne stores is good news for people living in SA but it’s not great news for anyone living in WA.
For some, AmazonFresh stores are just another place to buy fresh produce.
For others, Amazon Fresh is an affordable grocery option for the middle class.
The Adelaide and Perth stores are good news, but AmazonFresh isn’t.
AmazonFresh doesn’t just offer groceries for low-income families, it also offers fresh produce for a much wider demographic.
The new Adelaide and Fremantle stores are only a couple of miles apart and they’ll be the closest AmazonFresh grocery store to people living further north in the state.
AmazonFresh will open a new store in South Australia, and an expanded store in Brisbane.
It’s still an AmazonStore, just like in WA, and it’s unlikely that AmazonFresh customers will be able to get into those two stores for the foreseeable future.
In South Australia and Perth, Amazon has been opening two stores a year for the past three years.
It’s not clear when AmazonFresh might be opening a third store.
